O'Neil She was in her high-school year when she took part in the auditions, tried out for the third season of Canadian Idol within the early months of 2005. Her vocal performance impressed the judges, and so she was voted into the 100th round. O'Neil was praised highly by the panel of judges. But she was a victim of massive losses during the top 10 week and Top 9 week of the finals. She was placed on the third row, and then second place. Judges were amazed by her performance and recommended viewers to select singers who were well-known, such as Melissa. O'Neil wasn't in the top 3 after numerous outstanding performance. O'Neil's performance on the 7th September in 2005 was such a dazzling performance that judge Werner predicted that the headlines in the newspapers. O'Neil beat Rex Goudie to become the third Canadian Idol. O'Neil received a phone call from Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin congratulating her on being the winner of Canadian Idol right away.
